2023 New Orleans Saints Offseason moves and Draft Plan
Going into the new season and 2nd season under new Head Coach Vinnie Jordan, this is looking to be a great year! Coach Jordan came in last season after the team started of 0-2 and had a change due to former coach Sean Peyton having some medical issues. Coach Jordan coached the team to a 9-7 season, NFC South Division Title and a Wild Card appearance after a rough 1-5 start. Going into the draft, Coach Jordan and company had some big shoes to fill and some positions that needed some youth. At WR, the Saints lost 2 veterans in Tyler Lockette, and Willie Snead both who had great careers here in New Orleans and veteran OL Larry Warford. On the defensive side, the Saints parted ways with DT Jarran Reed, ROLB Roy Sherrell, and MLB Victor Suggs, and RE Kent Bacon. With the loss at WR, the Saints signed veteran Jarvis Landry. This was the only Free Agency Signee in the offseason. The Saints looked to the draft for youth for every team need.

    2023 Draft Class
This was a great draft class, and the Saints went into the draft with picks 1st(29), 2nd(19), 2nd(32), 3rd(3), 4th(21), 5th(21), 6th(21), and 7th(21).

1st Round Draft Pick DT Deron Howard was what this defense needed! This guy brings another great pass rusher and an even better run stopper inside. Howard comes in as one of the most agile Dlinemen in this 2023 class. He has been installed into the defense as the number 1 DT and looks to make a run at DROY.

2nd Round pick WR Dysean Payne comes in as the steal of the draft for the Saints. Many who projected him going in the 6th round, missed out on a super star. Coming from Western Michigan this kid has the same upside and chip on his shoulder as did Pittsburgh Superstar WR Antonio Brown. This kid felt he was a first round pick, saw the 6th round projections and showed out in the senior bowl like he had been all year. Most said the competition he played in college wasnt that great but he showed us in the senior bowl that the comp didnt matter and he burnt many of SEC, BIG10, ACC and PAC12 standout DBs. Payne will take over as the number 1 option this season. He will also be wearing number 18 for the 18 teams that passed him up in the 2nd round.

IMG_48149d61-8550-4889-a562-8784fc0e616f-1.png Last pick in the 2nd round, QB Zac McCants comes in under the radar. This kid was a 1st round projected QB but fell due to scouts doubting his arm strength. The Saints bring him in believing in his arm and not only that but his ability to extend plays with his legs. McCants is a lifelong Saints fan who in his locker has a picture of himself when he was 7, getting a Drew Brees jersey signed by the man himself. On top of that, McCants and Drew Brees met up at Saints head quarters and had a long conversation and after talks, Brees has blessed Zac with the honor of sporting his number 9 jersey even after just a year of it being retired. Brees is quoted saying, "I see myself in this kid. If there is anyone I trust to lead this team back to it's glory days it is Zac. I'm honored that he wanted to wear my retired number and have no problem getting it reinstated just for him. NFL watch out for this kid.

IMG_4a38acf0-59c3-40bf-abe8-42e78222be15-1.png LG Stanley Procell, drafted early 3rd round was a great replacement for veteran Larry Warford. This kid is very versatile, strong and has a great football IQ. That's just what this team needs upfront to protect it's new rookie QB and open up running lanes for the deadly Alvin Kamara.

IMG_c5ac0b0c-2899-4071-bc43-fb0748da6b49-1.png Charles Peters out of MSU comes in to take off the heavy workload of Alvin Kamara. This kid is fast, and strong putting up 18 reps on the bench press and squats a solid 600lbs, yes you read that right, 600lbs! He's not seen as a power back but he doesn't mind carrying a pile every once in awhile.

IMG_20991dc5-ade9-4fa8-924b-8bd13006542a-1.png Andre "Machine" Green comes in as another steal for the Saints. This beast comes in at a staggering 6'7", weighing 296lbs and ran a 4.6 flat forty yard dash! This kid is a nightmare off the edge as a speed rusher with the size of a nose tackle! QBs beware!

IMG_db25df79-96a1-4832-a1f9-a269de568878-1.png Christopher "Wild" West, comes in as the speed demon. This WR was brought in to do multiple things and you can say, another steal in the draft. West will be looked upon to replace the former duties of Tyler Lockette in the slot, Kick returner and punt returner. Christopher will wear #17 honoring his favorite NFL legend in return specialist, Devin Hester.

NOTE: Saints 7th Round draft pick(DT) did not pass the teams physical test and was cut.

THE SAINTS AND WHO DAT NATION LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER GREAT SEASON! WILL BE ANOTHER TOUGH ONE BUT NOTHING THEY CAN'T HANDLE!

WHO DAT....WHO DAT....WHO DAT SAID THEY GONE BEAT THEM SAINTS?????
