Good morning XCFL fans!
This is your monthly update from the Phinsider on where our team currently stands. After a gluttony of injuries at the hands of our rival J E T S the team went from a 4-0 tear to a 0-3 tumble. Included on the list of key players missing games due to injury were the following:
QB: Rashad Hollings - Made it through 5 games healthy, on pace to pass all of Winstons marks this year before he went down with a minor knee injury. He currently has 16 tds to 6 interceptions which well surpasses the mark set by Winston the prior year. He is set to come back after our bye, missing a showdown which the rival LC7 next week.... or is he?
HB Frank Momah: Missed 4 games due to an elbow injury, he was averaging 8.1 YPC until the injury, he played hurt in a loss last week racking up 100 yards, and game back last night vs Pitt to put up 150 and 2 TDs. The heartbeat of the offense.
LT JJ Dielman and RT Curt Lester: Things are obviously going your way when you lose your QB,RB and 2 bookend tackles. This one really hurt as Lester is the best player on the line and trying to mount an offense without the ability to stop outside rush is futile. These guys WILL be back vs Buffalo next week as we look to secure the division for a 2nd straight year.
DE Emmanuel Ogbah: The lifeblood to the run defense and matching up with the offenses LT, he wasnt as big of a hit as the rest of the guys as the drop off wasn't very severe. Charles Harris has filled in with 7 solo tackles and 2 sacks Ogbah also will be returning vs our key game against Buffalo.
Well there isnt one, severe drop off in all starts, the offensive line cant be to blame for the constant over/underthrows. Miami will do well to get Hollings back to lead the charge.
Currently Miami sits at 5-3 with a key stretch coming up - Buffalo (4-2)/Bye (thankfully)/Patriots(3-4 and surging)/Bears(4-4) /Bills(4-2)/Raiders(7-0). This is a key time for the team to setup its first goal - the AFC EAST crown.
